This is a class for anyone who has learned the basics of embroidery and wishes to build on a basic foundational knowledge of supplies, techniques, and stitches. Gain a firmer understanding of appropriate needle sizes, different types of fabrics, flosses, and threads. We will try different approaches to stitching ranging from experimental and improvisational embroidery to designs requiring more planning. Using a sketchbook and reference material, we will create original designs and choose colors and stitches that best express the idea and feeling of your subject matter. The class will cover principles of composition and design, color theory, and mark-making.
